What Is Vertigo?
Vertigo is the sensation that you or your surroundings are moving when no actual movement is occurring. Dizziness may feel like lightheadedness, imbalance, or disorientation. These symptoms can be sudden, unsettling, and even dangerous especially in older adults.

- BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)
- Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis
- Meniere’s disease
- Post-viral infections (including COVID)
- Head injury or concussion
- Cervical spine issues (neck-related vertigo)
Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT): How It Works
VRT is a specialized form of physiotherapy designed to help retrain your brain and body to compensate for vestibular (inner ear) disorders. Treatment may include:
- Gaze stabilization exercises
- Balance retraining
- Habituation techniques
- Neck and postural corrections
- Home exercise programs for lasting improvement
